Just about everyone wants to visit Las Vegas at one point or another. Even if it’s beginning to seem mildly old-fashioned, it’s still one of the world’s true entertainment Meccas, and as such it’s a draw for all kinds of people. As much as we all have a vague general idea of what to expect there, however – bright lights, gaudy attractions, and all-night entertainment – most of us haven’t really thought through the specifics. Welcome to Lake Tahoe…

Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America and is only just behind the Great Lakes in terms of volume! Situated in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at nearly 2000m above sea level on the California/Nevada border, the turquoise blue lake has 72 miles of gorgeous shoreline for you to explore. The lake is surrounded by snow topped mountain peaks, thick lush forests, and sprawling meadows. Various towns and bays lie along the lake shoreline, offering some spectacular cabin rentals in Lake Tahoe. The whole lake area has so many activities on offer it’s a good job you can drive to anywhere along the lake within two hours of wherever you are!

A lot of stuff happened in Heavenly Village, South Lake Tahoe whilst we were there; I lost my drone and a GoPro to the wilderness, we tasted the best pizza in the world (Jeremy Clarkson voice), we were nearly blown away by the ferocious winds on the lake shores and we skied in some of the best skiing conditions on planet earth – it was memorable to say the least!

Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America – and you have to travel there.
